This year, we’re going to be offering grants to community groups based in Newham, London, through an application and selection process.

The expression of interest for round 1 of 2025 is now closed. Round 2 will open soon, sign up to the PhilanthroPunks mailing list to stay informed.

Step 1: Fill in the expression of interest form when it goes live. We’ll be looking for a brief description of your organisation, a description of your project, how it will impact communities in Newham, what the grant money will be used for, and to what extent it aligns with one or more of the PhilanthroPunks Values.

Step 2: Once the expression of interest is closed, all applications will be reviewed. Those whose applications meet the requirements above will be contacted to supply further information - e.g. spending breakdown, constitution and related policies.

Step 3: You will then be given the guidelines and qualifying questions so you can apply in full. You will have 7 days to provide the full information in the application. This can take any form you prefer - a presentation, a video, a performance, a written statement, or whatever will get the concept of your project across to us.

Step 4: The panel (3 trustees and 4 independents) will score independently against these qualifying questions, then moderate their scores to ensure a fair and unbiased result.

Step 5: The groups who are successful will be notified and asked to fill in a grant contract. Once completed, the money will be paid into the organisations registered bank account so the project can commence. For more information on grant terms, you can visit our FAQ page.

If you’re a community group making a difference in Newham, share one or more of our values, and are interested in applying for a small grant, expressions of interest will re-open soon. Sign up to ours newsletter to stay informed.
